
Mark Newman
As a 1984 graduate of the United States Naval Academy and former U.S. Navy instructor pilot, Mark Newman spent over three decades immersed in high-stakes environments where precision, safety, leadership and teamwork are critical.
Following his military service, Mark built a 29-year career at FedEx as a check airman and Senior Manager of Training and Standards while specializing in Human Factors and Crew Resource Management (CRM). His work focused on fostering cultures of safety, optimizing performance, and reducing error in complex systems—expertise he now brings to the medical field.
Outside of the cockpit, Mark is a 3-time Ironman World Championship qualifier, 70.3 Ironman World Champion, and an experienced endurance coach, serving as both a high school cross country/track coach, and a collegiate triathlon coach.
As a co-founder of MSAS, Mark’s passion lies in training individuals and teams to perform under pressure, make sound decisions, and thrive in dynamic environments all with the ultimate goal of enhancing patient safety.
